STRENGTHENING HUNGARIAN COMMUNITIES. CREATING OPPORTUNITIES. CROSS-BORDER DEVELOPMENT.

The Szent Gellért Society is a professional civil organization working to strengthen Hungarian communities in the Carpathian Basin socially, economically, and culturally. Our mission is to support disadvantaged groups and create long-term development opportunities.

Who We Are

As a community and professional organization with more than 17 years of experience, we work to strengthen Hungarian communities across the Carpathian Basin socially, economically, and culturally. Our activities place strong emphasis on involving experts, sharing knowledge, and applying innovative solutions in order to provide effective responses to the challenges faced by different regions. We place special focus on cross-border cooperation and projects that strengthen interregional ties, support joint development, and build international partnerships. We also consider the values and development opportunities represented by the European Union to be important, as they contribute to the sustainable development and competitiveness of communities. Our goal is to help peripheral regions inhabited by Hungarians catch up, strengthen local Hungarian communities, and create long-term development opportunities that provide a stable foundation for future generations.

We strengthen Hungarian communities beyond the border

Since 2009, the Szent Gellért Society has been working to strengthen Hungarian communities across the Carpathian Basin. Our mission is to support disadvantaged regions and social groups, preserve Hungarian identity, culture, and mother tongue, and promote the long-term social and economic development of communities.

  • Our activities include supporting employment and business development, encouraging job creation, promoting innovation, and implementing rural development and tourism programs.
  • An important part of our work is mental health awareness, the preservation of emotional wellbeing, support in times of crisis, and the organization of programs that improve quality of life.
  • We support education, training, lifelong learning, and the use of experiential learning methods, with particular attention to the development of younger generations.
  • For Hungarian communities beyond the border, we actively work to preserve Hungarian culture and mother-tongue education, strengthen community ties, and protect the natural living environment and cultural heritage.
  • As a coordination and professional forum, our organization helps represent the interests of Hungarian communities, identify funding sources, organize conferences, trainings, and community programs, and implement relief and development initiatives. Our aim is to foster strong, cooperative, and developing Hungarian communities throughout the Carpathian Basin.
